Drew J Gooden

I inherited a few cameras when my Grandfather died. I fell in love with the Minolta X-700 and the Prime kit that my Grandfather had accumulated and I've spent the last seven years developing my eye.
My personal kit is a Sony A7sii. I use that in conjunction with a variety of vintage accessories and with that I'm capable in nearly all photographic situations. I still use Grandpa's Minolta X-700 regularly. Recently I acquired a Minolta X-370s so I can dual wield. I also have a Mashica Mat 120 TLR, a couple point-and-shoots from my aunt, and an Instax Mini 12 as well as a Lomo Instant Square Glass for both aspect ratios. One of my hat tricks is that I'm good at framing while using cameras with funky viewfinders like every Instant camera on the market. My other hat trick is that I've gotten really good at just picking up a camera I haven't used before.
My film experience has given me an ethos to shooting: try not to take the same picture twice. Honestly, try to take a picture that hasn't been taken yet. I like to shoot in a spontaneous style, working on location and using the natural light. I'm very physically active when I'm working. I like experimental film stocks and filters and making really extreme color choices in post production. And I also like working to the strengths of my gear; some cameras want to take a specific picture and I'm happy to oblige them.
This has led to a very eclectic portfolio. There's some modeling work and some architecture and landscape photography, some street photography, lots of concert photography, and personal photos with too much effort put into them. COME WITH ME! Come with me on my ~JOURNEY~ into photography. You're about to enter a world of sight and mind and doors and stuff. ! I also write essays and scripts sometimes but that's not important right now.
That's me on the left, by the way. Ain't a new camera until you've taken a picture of yourself.
